Introduction
My name is Jonathan Cass and, in 2014, I rescued a sick, 8 week-old puppy from probable euthanasia. His name is Freud (named after the famed psychologist) and he is a friendly German Shepherd from old working lines, with a talent for dispersing wildlife. While I happily have a job in the legal field, Freud needs a job to be happy. So, we went into business together. We are an effective team for humanely dispersing wildlife and discreetly discouraging common forms of trespassing—such as illegal hunting or poaching, motorized vehicle use, and camping.
How does it work?
Since 9 months of age, Freud has been training on a farm, dispersing deer, birds (such as geese), coyotes, and coy wolves. He stops when he has chased an animal off and returns immediately for a play reward. Wild animals learn quickly to avoid encounters with Freud and often start moving off as soon as they see us coming. He does not bark unless he is unable to physically reach a wild animal.
Scent marking (Freud peeing on stuff) maintains a perimeter that helps in keeping wildlife out.
Freud wears a military grade, high visibility patrol vest and collar, which is clearly marked. This vest can be fitted with any kind of ID panel. At night, he wears a flashing LED lights or beacons. No one should confuse Freud with a regular dog; he looks like he's working, as do I.
Freud and I do not leave any trace behind, other than tracks.
Who benefits from our services?
If you own land or sizeable acreage and require humane wildlife dispersal and/or daily monitoring for trespassers, we can provide confidential and professional service at a "Pay What You Can" (PWYC) rate. Freud needs the work and anything you can spare will go toward his care.
If you require a Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure confidentiality, you can download one, here. I also have a civil lawyer on call, as well as long-standing connections in law enforcement, if property owners have minor legal questions or enforcement issues.
We are familiar with the Ontario Trespass to Property Act and can arrest trespassers onsite as part of our service.
